Game-Based Learning

Game-Based Learning today involves the use of computer and video games specifically aimed to produce learning outcomes. It is designed to balance subject matter and gameplay, and later assesses the ability of the learner to retain and apply the acquired knowledge to real-world scenarios.

Game based strategies have enhanced corporate learning significantly and have skyrocketed in today’s businesses. Using GBL, employees participate in training that uses gameplay to teach and reinforce learning goals, and may even teach different methods and strategies to achieve their goals.

Gamification

Gamification, on the other hand, is the use of game mechanics and integrating them into the training. Examples of these mechanics might include things like achievement, points, levels, and badges.

Organizations are now adopting games as a part of their training curriculum and research shows unequivocally the benefits of game-based learning. Research shows that those who played learning games ended up with 11% higher factual knowledge, 14% higher skill-based knowledge, and 9% higher retention rate than those who used other methods.
